Massive Earthquake Measuring 7.7 on Richter Scale Jolts Miami, Caribbean; No Damage Reported

The quake was centered 139 kilometers northwest of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and 140 kilometers west-southwest of Niquero, Cuba, according to the US Geological Survey. It hit at 2:10 p.m and the epicenter was a relatively shallow 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
